Making the feature length documentary on the life of H.
H. Holmes was a massive journey to undertake. In addition to obtaining
footage in Chicago, filmmaker John Borowski
travelled to New Hampshire, Michigan, Philadelphia, New York, St. Louis,
and Los Angeles for research, location footage, interviews, and narration.
The result is a historic documentary first, portraying the life of America's
first serial killer.

"It was extremely important for me to capture
the feel of the time period. This is why I decided against using any modern
footage, I wanted the audience to feel as though they had been captured
in the late nineteenth century and were unable to escape until the end of
the film. I also wanted to make the film as visually interesting as possible,
which is why I chose to cut out the characters and actually place them in
their environments. This was also a way for me to establish mood for the
audience, such as the rain effect on Holmes and Pitezel. Mood and drama
are the most important aspects of a film to me as a filmmaker." -John Borowski, Filmmaker |
